I am Julija Kordež, I live in a rural area in the northern part of Slovenia on a family dairy farm. On a farm we have milk processing to young cheese, cottage cheese, yoghurt and some other products, which we sell at home and also we deliver our goods to public institutions, such as school, kindergarten, retirement home… also to some restaurants which support local farmers. I’m actively involved in rural youth on the local, national and international level. I’m head of international cooperation in the Slovenian Rural Youth Association (ZSPM) and a board member for Central Europe in Rural Youth Europe. I strive to promote local, home made food and support local farmers, but I think there is one main obstacle for most people – not being aware of where food comes from and also lack of patience to farmers, which I believe that can be improved alongside with this project.
