Marion Cantillon is a graduate of BSc. Food Marketing and Entrepreneurship. She also completed a postgraduate Diploma in Nutritional Science specialising in biofilms also in UCC. She was part of Ignite 2020, a business start-up accelerator program with whom she got huge assistance getting her company PitSeal off the ground. PitSeal has developed a method of making and applying a seaweed based edible biofilm to replace the current method of covering silage pits with PVC (plastic).She was awarded the Walsh Scholarship PhD in conjunction with Teagasc and UCC last year, entitled ‘Mitigating Emissions from Livestock Systems’ which is aimed at reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Livestock production. Marion was also the Kerry FBD Young Dairy Farmer of the Year 2020.
