Training events on public food procurement

We would like to share with you an important update: the public food procurement training events on the 22nd and 23rd of March!

They are co-organised by ICLEI, Copenhagen, Access to Land, WWF Sweden and IFOAM EU jointly in the framework of the following projects:  COACHBuy Better Food CampaignRuralizationSchoolFood4Change. The 2-day training will be organized as follows:

  • Wednesday 22 March (9:30-13:30) ‘Breakfast@Sustainabilitys’: The morning session (9:30-13:30) explores synergies and strategies between local and regional governments and small-scale farmers that can deliver multiple benefits: access to healthy and sustainable meals, rural and urban employment, mitigating climate change and food security. A sustainable networking lunch will be provided.
  • Wednesday 22 March (14:00-17:00) ‘Sustainable Public Procurement in Schools as Catalysts for Food System Change’: The afternoon session will shift the focus on the potential of schools, and in particular school meals. This session will convene a higher-level policy panel and a legal panel around school food procurement as concrete low-hanging fruit for the implementation of the EU F2F strategy. A light aperitivo will follow.
  • Thursday 23 March (9:00-17:00) ‘Training on Farm to Fork Public Procurement’: The legal training is addressed to procurers and procurement experts and will provide them with hands-on legal advice and good practice around F2F public procurement from public procurement essentials, to market engagement techniques and legal dos and don’ts to innovative approaches (dynamic food procurement, market platform tenders). Participants will have the opportunity to engage with an advanced version of the F2F procurement toolkit developed within the COACH project. NOTE that this day is really just for procurers and procurement experts, so municipalities should consider attending!

LOCATION: ICLEI Brussels Office. Address: Rue du Luxemburg 19 (2nd), 1000 Brussels. A hybrid format will be available.
