Did you know that less than 10% of the European farms are run by farmers under the 35 years old? And according to EU statistics, only Austria, Poland and Slovakia are doing better than the EU average.
Did you also just feel an unpleasant sense of injustice coming over you reading the previous two sentences? Then it’s definitely time to do something about it, so let’s team up and become part of the COCOREADO Ambassadors network.
With only twee weeks left before the deadline, the COCOREADO Call for Ambassadors is coming to an end. This amazing opportunity aims to reconnect farmers and consumers as well as strengthen the position of the farmer and is for everyone who is passionate about food and agriculture. That’s why we’re seeking ambassadors from all over Europe from the Nord in Scandinavia to the South in Greece and Portugal.
Not yet convinced? Then read this quote from Elke Rogge, Scientific Director at ILVO and COCOREADO partner, during the launch event for the Call for Ambassadors (September 2021).
“Young people are indeed crucial in COCOREADO. In fact, the project has three pillars: good practices, ambassadorship, and a focus on youth. Active youth engagement across Europe, an extensive ambassador training programme, and the co-creation of new ‘seed’ initiatives are at the core of the project.
And why young people? “Well, we believe in the power of the next generation. There are so many dynamic young people all across Europe, that could really help to move the food system in a more sustainable direction. .. “
